The Yocto Project™ is an open source collaboration project that provides templates, tools and methods to help you create custom Linux-based systems for embedded products regardless of the hardware architecture. It was founded in 2010 as a collaboration among many hardware manufacturers, open-source operating systems vendors, and electronics companies to bring some order to the chaos of embedded Linux development.
Sakoman Incorporated has been a Yocto Project Advisory Board Gold member since the project's inception in 2010. We have been using the technologies underlying the Yocto project (bitbake and the recipes provided by the OpenEmbedded project) since 2006.

There are times when cost or power constraints won't allow a Linux based solution. In these cases the MSP430 and Stellaris M4 processor families from Texas Instruments can be an ideal solution.
TI provides excellent low cost Launchpad development boards for both processor families.

The microSD BoosterPack allows you to add mass storage to your Launchpad design for data logging and program storage. The design uses the Launchpad's SPI interface to communicate with the microSD card. Jumper blocks are provided to set which GPIOs are used for the microSD card's chip select and card detect signals.
